Anti-doping
Gymnastics Australia and Canberra City Gymnastics Club (CCGC) commit to the purposes of the World Anti-Doping Program and the Code, namely:
- Protect the Athletes’ fundamental right to participate in Doping free sport and thus promote health, fairness and equality for Athletes worldwide; and
- To ensure harmonised, coordinated and effective anti-doping programs at the international and national level with regard to detection, deterrence and prevention of Doping.
The fundamental rational of this Policy is the preservation of the spirit of sport, namely the celebration of the human spirit, body and mind, and is characterised by the following values:
- Ethics, fair play and honesty;
- Health;
- Excellence in performance;
- Character and education;
- Fun and joy;
- Teamwork;
- Dedication and commitment;
- Respect for rules and laws;
- Respect for self and other participants;
- Courage;
- Community and solidarity.
Doping is fundamentally contrary to the spirit of sport.
Medications
All medications, including prescription and those available over-the-counter, can have serious side-effects. These side-effects may become a problem when the body is placed under the additional stress caused by physical activity.
This policy has been designed to assist individuals who do not have any medical training but may be asked to administer medications to an athlete. The policy may also assist clubs or teams in determining the contents of their first aid kit Sports Medicine Australia strongly recommends that all non-medical personnel involved with sport adhere to the following guidelines.
